This course will provide an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children or young people in primary, secondary or special schools. They include learning about children and young people’s development, safeguarding their welfare and communication.
Anyone considering becoming a Teaching Assistant, who is not yet working or volunteering in a school.
There are no entry requirements for this qualification but learners need to be at least 16 years old.
One of our experienced Learning Consultants will be partnered with you for the duration of your qualification and they will help guide and support you through your learning. You will submit work online which will be assessed by your Learning Consultant who will give practical and constructive advice. As you work through the qualification you will be able to easily identify how far you have progressed so that you can pace your study accordingly. Your Learning Consultant will always be available by phone or email should you need assistance.
No you do not need a workplace setting to complete this award.
Typically this course will take approximately 6 months to complete.

This qualification is worth 12 credits.
You could progress to the level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in schools or the Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in schools.
