This qualification is based on the National Occupational Standards for Playwork and has been developed for Early Years practitioners who would like to broaden their knowledge and work in playwork settings.
The units cover the theories and principles of play and playwork and how to support the needs and rights of children to create diverse, inclusive play environments. They also cover how to support children and young people to manage risk, establishing and maintaining links with other organisations and individuals, and organisational frameworks. It does not confirm occupational competence as a playworker.

What are the entry requirements?
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but you will need to be at least 18 years of age.
How is it assessed?
It will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include tasks such as written information, oral questions, reﬂection on own practice or direct observation.
Do you need to be working to take the qualification?
No, as this is a knowledge only qualiﬁcation.
How long does it take to complete?
You can usually complete it in 12 months or less.
