What does the qualification cover?
This qualiﬁcations will provide an understanding of the knowledge needed when working directly with children or young people in primary, secondary or special schools. They include learning about children and young people’s development, safeguarding their welfare and communication.
Who is it suitable for?
Anyone considering working in a role supporting learning such as a teaching assistant, one-to-one support, learning support assistant or learning mentor.
What are the entry requirements?
You should be at least 16 years old with a good standard of written and spoken English. You do not need a placement to complete this qualification.
How is it assessed?
It will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task.
Do you need to be working to take this qualification?
No, as this is a knowledge only qualiﬁcation.
How long does it take to complete?
6 months, however you can complete more quickly if you are able to put more time into your studies.
What could this qualification lead to?
This will depend on the units chosen as it covers a wide range of job roles.
