What you will learn
This qualification aims to extend and further develop learners’ skills and to extend learners’ knowledge and understanding of the creative craft process. It will enable learners to investigate creative enterprise and employment opportunities in the creative sector and provides a basis for progression onto further study.
This qualification is designed for learners aged pre-16 and above who wish to develop skills and knowledge in craft. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification.
This qualification aims to:
Extend and further develop learners’ skills
Extend learners’ knowledge and understanding of the creative craft process
Provide recognition for enterprise skills and attributes
Investigate creative enterprise and employment opportunities is the creative sector
Extend learners’ understanding of health and safety issues provide the opportunity for further development
Provide a basis for progression onto further study.
The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to:
Use raw materials, tools and equipment in a safe and competent manner
Develop analytical and research skills
Evaluate own work, develop ideas and learning through the craft process
Develop an understanding of health and safety considerations in the craft environment.
Use materials, tools and equipment to develop craft techniques
Investigate creative enterprise and employment opportunities
Develop craft ideas
Create, present and evaluate final craft item
Each candidate must create a portfolio of evidence and activity sheets which demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each mandatory unit.
Future Learning Opportunities
Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to: NCFE: Level 3 Certificate in Creative Craft.

To be eligible for full funding you must be:
Over 19 and have lived in the UK/EU for the last three years. (Ages 19-23 are eligible for free courses if they have already achieved a full Level 2 qualification or equivalent. Ages 19-23 who have not achieved a full Level 2 qualification may be subject to costs). Please note there is no age limit.
Living in England but not currently residing in the following devolved areas- Greater London, West of England, West Midlands, Liverpool City Region, Greater Manchester, Sheffield City Region, Tees Valley or North of Tyne.
