Level 1 Creative Craft Award- Sign Painting (Virtual Course)

What you will learn in our Level 1 Creative Craft Award

In our Creative Craft Award you will create your own decorative signs using vinyl stencils on pre-cut boards. You will prepare and paint your own signs using the colours of your choice.

This qualification will introduce you to craft and design materials using various paint resist techniques and stencil design creation using Silhouette Studio.

Entry Requirements

This qualification is designed for learners aged pre-16 and above who wish to develop skills and knowledge in craft. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they have already achieved an Entry Level 3 qualification.

This course will be fully funded subject to you meeting the eligibility criteria. More details below.

Aims and Objectives of this qualification

The Creative Craft Award, Level 1, aims to:

  • Enable learners to develop basic skills in craft
  • Provide learners with underpinning knowledge of a craft process
  • Provide learners with a basis for progression into further study in craft-related areas.

  • Create, Present and Review Final Craft Item

Assessment

The NCFE Level 1 Creative Craft Award is internally assessed. Each candidate must create a portfolio of evidence and activity sheets which demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each mandatory unit.

Future Learning Opportunities

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to:

  • NCFE: Level 2 Creative Craft Award- Furniture Painting

Course Start Dates

  • Monday Course – 28th September
  • Thursday Course – 8th October

Duration and Time:

8 weeks. 2 hours a week with your allocated tutor in a virtual classroom and 2 hours a week independent study.

Classes run in evenings 6.30pm-8.30pm.

To be eligible for full funding you must be:

  • Over 19 and have lived in the UK/EU for the last three years. (Ages 19-23 are eligible for free courses if they have already achieved a full L2 qualification or equivalent. Ages 19-23 who have not achieved a full L2 qualification may be subject to costs). Please note there is no age limit.
  • Living in England but not currently residing in the following devolved areas- Greater London, West of England, West Midlands, Liverpool City Region, Greater Manchester, Sheffield City Region, Tees Valley or North of Tyne.
  • Not studying towards any other qualification.
