Entry Level 3 Creative Craft Award- Sign Painting (Virtual Course)

What you will learn in our Entry Level 3 Award

In our Creative Craft Award you will create your own decorative signs using vinyl stencils on pre-cut boards. You will get to create 2 unique, distressed, crackled or ‘chippy’ signs using various Sweet Pickins Milk Paint resist techniques.

Sign one: Using ready-made stencils designs of your choice on pre-cut boards you will prepare and paint your first sign with the support of the tutor and the colours provided from the lovely Sweet Pickins Milk Paint range.

Sign two: You can choose the design and 2 colours of your choice from the Sweet Pickins Milk Paint range.

We will paint and create at the same time virtually so must have access to a webcam to participate online. All painting products will be sent to you before the class.

You will be required to complete an evidence tracking log during the class.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification.

This qualification is suitable for learners aged pre-16 and older.

Qualification Purpose

This qualification is designed to support engagement in learning and progression to Level 1 qualifications.

This qualification will:

  • Provide opportunities to acquire basic practical skills in creative craft.

Qualification Objectives

  • Introduce learners to craft and design materials
  • Allow learners to combine materials to create an art or craft item whilst working safely and using appropriate personal protective equipment.

Mandatory units

  • Making an art or craft product


Each candidate must create a portfolio of evidence and activity sheets which demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with the mandatory unit.

Future Learning Opportunities

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to NCFE Level 1 Award in Creative Craft

Duration and Time:

3 hour class running from 2pm-5pm on the following dates:

  • Saturday 17th October 2020
  • Saturday 24th October 2020

To be eligible for the full funding of this course you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Over 19 and have lived in the UK/EU for the last three years. (Ages 19-23 are eligible for free courses if they have already achieved a full L2 qualification or equivalent. Ages 19-23 who have not achieved a full L2 qualification may be subject to costs). Please note there is no age limit.
  • Living in England but not currently residing in the following devolved areas- Greater London, West of England, West Midlands, Liverpool City Region, Greater Manchester, Sheffield City Region, Tees Valley or North of Tyne.
  • Not studying towards any other qualification.
