Level 3 Diploma Teaching Assistant – Specialist Learning & Support in Schools (QCF)

This qualification provides an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills required when working directly with children or your people in a primary, secondary or special need school. It covers all aspects of specialist support including planning, delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning alongside a teacher. It includes special needs support and personal development along with reflective practice.

Who is this course suitable for?

This course is suitable for those who would like to become qualified as a teaching assistant or learning support assistant.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no entry requirements for this qualification but learners need to be at least 16 years old.

How is it assessed?

One of our experienced Learning Consultants will be partnered with you for the duration of your qualification and they will help guide and support you through your learning. You will submit work online which will be assessed by your Learning Consultant who will give practical and constructive advice. As you work through the qualification you will be able to easily identify how far you have progressed so that you can pace your study accordingly. Your Learning Consultant will always be available by phone or email should you need assistance.

For the Level 3 Diploma your Learning Consultant will make a whole day visit to your school setting to observe you in the workplace. This assessment day will take place towards the end of your qualification and will be carefully planned well in advance.

Do I need a workplace setting?

Yes you will need to be working or volunteering in a school setting. The number of hours you would need within the school would be around 7-10 hours each week.

If you need to find a placement we will provide you with a letter of introduction stating that you are studying for a qualification. You can then either take in or send to your local schools requesting a placement.

How long with it take to complete?

Typically this course will take 12 months to complete.

Payment options?

You can pay for the course in one payment of £1600.00 or in 12 monthly repayments of £185.41 via a direct debit arrangement.

How many credits is this qualification worth?

This qualification is worth 44 credits.

What further qualification can I progress to?

You could progress to completing a foundation stage degree in Education or move onto a teaching qualification
