This qualification will enable learners to develop the knowledge and skills needed when supporting teaching and learning in primary, secondary or special needs schools. It covers a wide range of area including children and young people’s development, supporting those with disabilities or special educational needs and communications and professional relationships.

What are the entry requirements?
There are no entry requirements for this qualification but learners need to be at least 16 years old.
How is it assessed?
When you register for this qualification you will be allocated an Assessor. Your assessor will work with you throughout the qualification. Your assessor will visit you at your workplace or volunteer setting once every three months.
Assessor visits could include direct observation in the workplace, you will be required to put together a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or complete a task set by Reach4skills.for marking. In between visits you will be expected to complete and submit work online to your assessor for marking.
There are no end exams for this qualification.
Do I need a workplace setting?
Yes you will need to be working in a workplace or be prepared to find a placement which typically could be as a volunteer. The number of hours you would need within the school would be approximately one day a week.
If you need to find a placement we will provide you with a letter of introduction stating that you are studying for a qualification. You can then either take in or send to your local schools requesting a placement.
How long with it take to complete?
Typically this course will take approximately 12 months to complete.
You are able to pay for the course in one payment of £1400 or in 12 monthly repayments of £116.66 via a direct debit arrangement.
How many credits is this qualification worth?
This qualification is worth 32 credits.
What further qualification can I progress to?
You could progress to the level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in schools or the Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in schools.
